Piriform Defraggler
Piriform Defraggler is a simple, powerful program that defragments your computer’s files. Instead of using Windows Defragmenter, which takes up the majority of your system resources and has alot of glitches, Defraggler is a great tool that speeds up your system and gives you a bit more room on your hard drive.
When a file is downloaded onto your computer, it is not really just one file. It looks like one file, but it had to be broken up into many pieces in order to be downloaded. Windows then pieces all the fragments together and makes it 1 file. However, it deosn’t do it very efficiently, so bigger files have more fragments (usually). A defragmenter takes all these pieces and fits them all together seamlessly, so that it takes less time for your computer to read the file, and also takes up less space on your hard drive.
This makes your system more stable and gives it a boost in dealing with different files. This program should be used by every single person who reads this who is running a Windows system. I would run the Defraggler at least once a week to keep your computer up to speed. I personally run it just about every day.

I just hit up the new site. Apparently your RSS feed does not exist anymore because it never updated, which is why I never checked. Nice AJAX frontpage.

RSS is a thing of the past.

I use this program Diskeeper. It does the same thing, but has a really nice feature….automatic defragmenter. It actively defrags your computer when it’s sitting idle. It only defrags when you’re not doing anything and it has the available resources. It does a very nice job, I can’t even tell when it’s running or when it’s not.

In my past experience with Diskeeper, it was slow and kind of bulky. Maybe they have cleaned it up. Additionally, Diskeeper costs money, Defraggler is freeware.

Diskeeper only costs money if you don’t have leet skillz. (Yea or the internet). Diskeeper to me is real nice and I don’t have to open up the program to defrag, it’s all automated. Either way, defragging is a good way to get a performance increase (or prevent a decrease)

leet skillz aka piracy. Defraggler is legally free and has scheduled defragmenting as well
