Fallingwater
Fallingwater is located in Donegal, PA about an hour and a half from Pittsburgh. It is a beautiful nature reserve that was once a home for the Kaufmann family, the same one that owned the department store. It was designed by Frank Lloyd Wright in the 1930’s. The house was given to the Pennsylvania Conservancy to keep and preserve.
As you can see from the picture, the waterfall basically runs through the house. The point of the house was to bring nature indoors, so there are a lot of windows and glass to allow nature to come into the house.
It was my second trip to Fallingwater, my first being with Mr. Petron a few years ago. This time, Faith and I visited. Though the views were fantastic, I did have a few complaints.
1. The cost of the tour is ridiculous ($16 per person)
2. The tour is kind of long, and you are not permitted to take pictures inside the house or during the tour.
3. The tourguides are not very personable.
Overall, it is a fun trip to make if you have a few hours on a Saturday and would like to do something different.

i toured this house last year. little known fact: the tour guides will say that the son gave it over to the public because he had no heirs to pass it down to. He was gay. that is why he had no heirs, no lie. also this house is literally priceless today and better than the other frank lloyd wrights in california and elsewhere.

i agree that the son, edward kaufmann jr was a little gay and thats why had no heirs. the kaufmanns paid 155,000 for the house, about 31 times the average cost of a house during the time. as mark said, it is his most famous work and is priceless today. there are seriously cameras and security everywhere.

I’ve toured here as well, it’s beautiful. Me and Mark are going to live there one day.

also xane and jane (justin) will be our maids when we move into fallingwater. they will be required to wear naughty maid outfits with the seductive feather dusters (those are luke’s favorite).
